The history of Buzzi & Buzzi is a family story. It is a story of dedication, dreams, research, and passion.
The intuition of Pietro Buzzi and Marisa Chiari, partners in both life and work, took shape in 1990 when they registered the Buzzi & Buzzi brand, dreaming of a lighting company that would embrace innovation with ambition and confidence. Perhaps they already imagined that one day their sons, Dario and Andrea, would take the company even further, bringing light to the service of design worldwide. 1995 was a significant year.

Focusing not only on shapes but on the concept of architectural lighting without placement limits, Buzzi & Buzzi searched for a material that was resistant to thermal shock, fireproof, and decorable. When they couldn’t find it, they created and patented it. This is how Coral® was born, an extremely innovative material that allows light fixtures to be seamlessly integrated into ceiling and wall finishes. Light thus became a creative concept, blending with design and meeting the increasingly sophisticated demands of contemporary architecture.

Over the past twenty years, the original dream has taken new directions, with the two brothers leading the way and collaborating with international designers. New challenges have been met with Dario’s engineering expertise in miniaturizing and enhancing products through extensive research and experimentation with new technologies, and Andrea’s strategic ability to keep the company aligned with designers’ original vision while adapting to global market dynamics.

With this vision, many products have been developed through evolutions of Coral®: in 2010, Coral Water Out® and Durcoral® enabled the creation of an outdoor lighting line; in 2015, the revolutionary AirCoral® was patented, a catalytic and antibacterial material, now used in all indoor products, that improves air quality in the spaces where it is installed. 2020 marked the launch of Iron, a collection of miniaturized projectors and track lighting that allowed the company to successfully engage with the contract sector, supported by the dedicated lighting design consulting and customer care services it provides.

Buzzi & Buzzi is a leading brand in the lighting design industry and, despite traveling the world and creating prestigious projects, it remains deeply rooted in its history – a history of family. At the heart of this catalog are the people, the company, and the products, but the true protagonist is the project.
