Company Description

Vivai Formica Pietro Tindaro, based in Milazzo, operates on a area of approximately nine hectares,  two of which is in screenhouses. The business has its roots in vine nursery production, initiated by  great-grandfather Giovanni at the beginning of the last century. Later, thanks to grandfather Pietro,  the nursery activity was expanded to include the cultivation of olive and citrus trees. 

Since 2006, Agronomist Dr. Pietro has taken over the management of the family business, introducing new techniques aimed at product and process innovation. Today, Vivai Formica Pietro produces citrus  trees, olive trees, and both grafted and ungrafted vine rootstocks. The production serves both  industrial and ornamental markets and boasts an annual output of over 200,000 plants. 

All plants are propagated using advanced techniques that ensure varietal diversity, with propagation  material sourced from the company’s own extensive mother plant fields. Since 2014, alongside  traditional propagation techniques such as cuttings and grafting, the nursery has adopted in vitro  propagation (micropropagation), establishing an in-house laboratory. This facility is also equipped to  test all plants for common bacterial, fungal, and viral diseases. 

As of December 24, 2020, the company began the process of conversion to organic farming under  the certification body Suolo e Salute.
